A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Grandview Heights Fire Department
on its One Hundredth Anniversary.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend the Grandview Heights 2
Fire Department on the One Hundredth Anniversary of its founding; and 3
WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting 4
tribute to the Grandview Heights Fire Department, for over the past 5
one hundred years, this fine agency has attained a praiseworthy record 6
of service to local residents and businesses. Established in 1924 7
under the direction of Chief Merle Klingensmith, GHFD has grown to 8
meet the ever-changing needs of the area, and the department’s 9
achievements are a justifiable source of pride and a fine reflection 10
not only on the organization itself but also on its astute leaders, on 11
its dedicated members, and on the community it serves; and 12
WHEREAS, While many people are content to take a passive role in 13
life, the devoted firefighters of the Grandview Heights Fire 14
Department have risked their own safety to ensure the well-being of 15
their fellow citizens, and the enthusiasm and devotion to duty they 16
have shown in all of their endeavors have earned them the gratitude 17
and respect of the citizens they have safeguarded. We are certain that 18
as they maintain their unwavering commitment to service, these 19
individuals will continue in the tradition of excellence that has long 20
been the department’s hallmark; and 21
WHEREAS, We are delighted to honor the many members of the 22
Grandview Heights Fire Department, for they have proven themselves to 23
be conscientious, valiant Ohioans, and considering the bravery, 24
commitment, and self-sacrifice of these heroes, it is no surprise that 25
they inspire such trust and confidence. Without a doubt, their 26

noteworthy accomplishments demonstrate the potential of individuals to 27
have a positive effect on the quality of life in our society; 28
therefore be it 29
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 30
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 31
congratulate the Grandview Heights Fire Department on the auspicious 32
occasion of its One Hundredth Anniversary and extend best wishes for 33
continued prosperity; and be it further 34
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 35
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Grandview Heights 36
Fire Department. 37
