A RESOLUTION
Honoring the late Neill Kirby “Mojo Nixon” McMillan, Jr.
on June 11, 2024, being recognized as Mojo Nixon Day in Ohio.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio extend posthumous recognition to Neill Kirby 2
“Mojo Nixon” McMillan, Jr., on Mojo Nixon Day in Ohio, June 11, 2024; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, Mojo Nixon will long be remembered as a man who 5
contributed a great deal to his community and state through his 6
ongoing legacy as a social commentator, a live rock performer, and a 7
film, MTV, and radio personality. His four-decade-long career as a 8
recording artist merged punk, folk, talking blues and rockabilly music 9
that served as a distinctly American hybrid, especially on his iconic 10
“Elvis Is Everywhere.” Moreover, it led to roles in the major motion 11
picture “Great Balls of Fire,” landmark MTV promos and documentary 12
“Mojo Manifesto,” as well as histrionic bands with John Doe, Jello 13
Biafra, Dave Alvin, “Country Dick” Montana and others; and 14
WHEREAS, The longtime resident of Greater Cincinnati began his 15
radio career on WEBN-FM, and he went on to spend two decades as the 16
voice of “Outlaw Country” on SiriusXM, while also making appearances 17
on its Howard 100 Channel. Without a doubt, he was infinitely 18
important for the ceaseless entertainment initiatives that enriched 19
the lives of those who listened to him; and 20
WHEREAS, His stage attire was so unique and consistent for twenty 21
years that his iconic “daisy dukes” denim shorts will be the first to 22
ever be put on display at the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame; and 23
WHEREAS, It is through the unsurpassed efforts and unparalleled 24
commitment of individuals such as Mojo Nixon that State of Ohio 25

continues to grow and prosper and remains responsive to the needs of 26
its citizens. He has earned a well-deserved reputation as a generous 27
and civic-minded person, and he is deserving of the highest praise for 28
his concerted efforts to inform and entertain his audience; therefore 29
be it 30
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 31
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 32
congratulate the late Neill Kirby “Mojo Nixon” McMillan, Jr., during 33
Mojo Nixon Day in Ohio, June 11, 2024, and urge the citizens of our 34
great state to take the time to play his music loudly and reflect on 35
the life of a truly outstanding Ohioan; and be it further 36
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 37
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Neill 38
Kirby “Mojo Nixon”McMillan, Jr. 39
