A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Smithville High School girls track and field
team as the 2024 Division III State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Smithville High School girls 2
track and field team on securing the 2024 Division III State 3
Championship; and 4
WHEREAS, The talented Smithville High School girls track and field 5
team is, indeed, to be heartily commended for decisively earning this 6
year’s Division III State Championship, its first state championship 7
in program history. The squad’s performance, which included amassing a 8
tremendous 50 points, reflects the outstanding collective effort by a 9
gifted group of athletes, and without exception, the team has devoted 10
countless hours to training and practice in order to ensure peak 11
conditioning. Clearly, this demanding regimen has paid handsome 12
dividends; and 13
WHEREAS, The members of the Smithville High School girls track and 14
field team have epitomized the power, poise, and precision that befit 15
true competitors. Despite sometimes grueling pressure, they have 16
consistently maintained their composure and morale, exhibiting 17
strength, speed, stamina, and agility in every challenging encounter. 18
Time and again, they have risen to the occasion, amply demonstrating 19
their unflagging determination, and their impressive maturity and 20
finesse have earned them widespread respect, even among their most 21
formidable rivals; and 22
WHEREAS, By weathering a rigorous schedule and prevailing over a 23
host of adversaries, the members of the Smithville High School girls 24
track and field team have learned much about dedication, self- 25
discipline, leadership, and perseverance. Their first-place finish is 26

a measure of their stalwart commitment to the sport, and their 27
indomitable spirit has made their families, friends, and coach, 28
Kirstie Mahas, incredibly proud; therefore be it 29
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 30
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Smithville 31
High School girls track and field team on its brilliant 2024 season 32
and wish its members continued success in all of their future 33
endeavors; and be it further 34
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 35
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Smithville High School 36
girls track and field team. 37
