                            A RESOLUTION
                        In memory of Ronald Mottl, Sr.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th                   1
General Assembly of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of                   2
Ronald Mottl, Sr., and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family                    3
and friends; and                                                                         4
     WHEREAS, Ron Mottl left an indelible impression on the lives he                     5
touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited individual who                          6
contributed immeasurably to the world around him. After graduating                       7
with a law degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he                            8
captained the 1955 baseball team, he served in the U.S. Army. As an                      9
elected official, he held positions as president of Parma City Council                   10
and a member of the Parma City Schools Board of Education, the Ohio                      11
Senate and House of Representatives, and the United States Congress.                     12

While in the state legislature, he was instrumental in the                 13
establishment of the Ohio Lottery, and he was also a member of the         14
Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame and its board of directors; and      15
     WHEREAS, Ron Mottl’s regard for improving the quality of life in      16
our society was clearly evident in his personal sacrifices of time and     17
effort to his family, friends, and community. Giving generously of his     18
energy and abilities in all of his endeavors, he displayed exceptional     19
concern and insight, and his absence will be keenly felt; and              20
     WHEREAS, A loving husband to his wife, Debbie, a devoted father       21
to his children, Ron, Ron Mickey, Ronda, and Amanda, and a doting          22
grandfather to his grandchildren, Alexis, Samantha, Mickey, and            23
Mickayla, Ron Mottl always used his talents to the benefit of others,      24
and the laurels of his life stand as a tribute not only to him but         25
also to those he left behind. Although the void his death has created      26
can never be filled, the legacy of care and commitment he established      27
will surely live on. The world is a richer place for his having been       28
in it, and he will be sorely missed; therefore be it                       29
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 30
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,       31
express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of    32
Ronald Mottl, Sr., and, in so doing, pay tribute to the memory of a    33
truly unique man; and be it further                                    34
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 35
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Ronald   36
Mottl, Sr.                                                             37
