                       A RESOLUTION
              Honoring Grace Leon on being presented with
   the 2024 Citizen of the Year Award by the U.S. Marshals Service.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th    1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to     2
Grace Leon on receiving the 2024 Citizen of the Year Award from the       3
United States Marshals Service; and                                       4
     WHEREAS, Grace Leon is, indeed, a remarkable individual, combining   5
compassionate concern with selfless initiative to become a tremendous     6
advocate for families of homicide victims. Becoming a licensed social     7
worker after her husband, Cleveland Police Officer Wayne Leon, was        8
killed in the line of duty two decades ago, she has served as a crisis    9
intervention specialist with the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide    10
Unit, and she has been a staunch supporter of the U.S. Marshals           11
Service and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and its         12
Fugitive Safe Surrender program since its founding in 2005. Willingly     13
giving of her time, abilities, and enthusiasm, she has dedicated          14
countless hours and seemingly inexhaustible energy to various             15
worthwhile endeavors that have contributed to the Greater Cleveland       16
area as well as to the mission of the USMS; and                           17
     WHEREAS, Known throughout the area as an exceptional community       18
member, Grace Leon has demonstrated commendable devotion and social       19
concern to her friends and neighbors and has gained the respect and       20
gratitude of all those who have come to know her. Her superlative work    21
is the hallmark of genuine and responsible citizenship, and it shows      22
the potential of each person to have a positive effect on the quality     23
of life in our society; and                                               24
     WHEREAS, It is through the unsurpassed efforts and unparalleled      25
commitment of conscientious individuals such as Grace Leon that the       26

State of Ohio continues to grow and prosper and remains responsive to      27
the needs of its citizens. She has earned a fine reputation as a           28
generous and civic-minded person, and she is deserving of the highest      29
praise for her concerted efforts in behalf of the entire community;        30
therefore be it                                                            31
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     32
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,           33
congratulate Grace Leon on her recent national accolade and salute her     34
as one of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further                        35
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     36
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Grace Leon.                37
