                       A RESOLUTION
           Honoring the Elyria High School boys track and field team
              as the 2024 Division I State Champion.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly    1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Elyria High School boys track    2
and field team on winning the 2024 Division I State Championship; and    3
     WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the   4
Elyria High School boys track and field team have combined talent and    5
spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish        6
themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable              7
dedication, the Pioneers have worked diligently toward attaining         8
ultimate proficiency in their sport, and at this year’s Division I       9
State Meet, Mateo Medina single-handedly secured the overall title for   10
his team by earning 30 points and becoming just the sixteenth boy to     11
win the sprint triple crown; and                                         12
     WHEREAS, The Pioneers’ achievements and leadership are a            13
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the           14
competitors, their families, their school, their community, and their    15
coach, Jerry Chizmar. In leading his team, Coach Chizmar has not only    16
helped the athletes to develop their talents to the fullest but also     17
instilled in them a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and   18
camaraderie; and                                                         19
     WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role   20
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased     21
to pay tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coach   22
for a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have   23
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in    24
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it                    25

     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General     26
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Elyria High     27
School boys track and field team on its tremendous season and salute       28
the members and coach as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it         29
further                                                                    30
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                31
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Elyria High School boys       32
track and field team.                                                      33
