                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring Lorain County on its Bicentennial.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly     1
of Ohio are pleased to recognize Lorain County on the jubilant            2
occasion of its Two Hundredth Anniversary; and                            3
     WHEREAS, This is, indeed, an auspicious milestone, and celebration   4
is certainly in order. Since its inception two hundred years ago,         5
Lorain County has experienced dramatic growth and change, and yet,        6
commendably, even as its residents have exuberantly embraced the          7
promise of a bright future, they have never relinquished their            8
appreciation for the worthiest virtues of the past. Without               9
sacrificing their sense of tradition in the name of progress, the         10
people of the county have managed to nurture a fresh perspective and a    11
positive outlook that endear this distinctive place to all who know it    12
well; and                                                                 13
     WHEREAS, America is only as strong as her individual communities,    14
which are unique and which make a significant contribution to the         15
culture of our state and nation, and two centuries after it was           16
founded, Lorain County still radiates vitality, optimism, and a charm     17
all its own. Clearly, it is a place of many engaging qualities, and       18
its schools, businesses, and civic organizations both embody and          19
thrive upon the values of which our flag is an emblem; and                20
     WHEREAS, The Two Hundredth Anniversary of Lorain County offers its   21
citizens the opportunity to share their memories and experiences and      22
to reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit community, for     23
they have built on the best traditions of the past to ensure a future     24
filled with hope and promise. A vigorous commitment to public service     25
and an earnest devotion to lofty ideals have long been second nature      26
to most of the area’s residents, and vigilance, industriousness, and      27

generosity have come to typify their collective character; therefore       28
be it                                                                      29
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General     30
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, extend our                  31
congratulations to Lorain County on its Bicentennial and offer our         32
best wishes for its perennial good fortune; and be it further              33
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                34
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Lorain County.                    35
