A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Perrysburg High School Select Strings Orchestra
on winning the 2024 American String Teachers Association National
Orchestra Festival Grand Championship.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Perrysburg 2
High School Select Strings Orchestra as the 2024 American String 3
Teachers Association National Orchestra Festival Grand Champion; and 4
WHEREAS, A talented group of young people, the Perrysburg High 5
School Select Strings Orchestra has distinguished itself as one of the 6
finest high school ensembles in the nation. Under the able leadership 7
of its director, Michael Smith, the group performed a fifty-minute 8
concert for a panel of three national adjudicators at this year’s 9
American String Teachers Association National Orchestra Festival and 10
was named the Grand Champion among the participating schools; and 11
WHEREAS, Throughout long hours of practice and preparation, the 12
members of the Perrysburg High School Select Strings Orchestra have 13
displayed exceptional ability, as well as the confidence, training, 14
and discipline that have helped them earn this well-deserved honor. 15
Clearly, they have gained a level of respect and appreciation of which 16
they can be justly proud; and 17
WHEREAS, Participation in high school activities such as an 18
orchestral ensemble provides a unique opportunity for students to 19
develop their skills and to enjoy a special camaraderie while learning 20
the true value of perseverance and cooperation. The members of the 21
Perrysburg High School Select Strings Orchestra have worked tirelessly 22
to make this group one of the country’s best, and they are, indeed, 23
deserving of high praise; therefore be it 24

As Adopted by the House
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 25
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 26
applaud the Perrysburg High School Select Strings Orchestra on its 27
tremendous success and salute all those associated with the group as 28
fine Ohio citizens; and be it further 29
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 30
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Perrysburg High School 31
Select Strings Orchestra. 32
