A RESOLUTION
In memory of Officer Jacob J. Derbin.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio send our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Officer 2
Jacob J. Derbin on the sorrowful occasion of his death; and 3
WHEREAS, Although there are no words to ease the sorrow now felt, 4
surely there is solace in the remembrance of having known such an 5
outstanding individual. A 2018 graduate of Cuyahoga Heights High 6
School, a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, and a first-year 7
member of the Euclid Police Department, Jacob Derbin fulfilled his 8
diverse responsibilities with integrity, sensitivity, and the utmost 9
competence. He was highly esteemed by his peers, and his valiant 10
efforts were truly admirable; and 11
WHEREAS, Jacob Derbin was an unforgettable man whose words and 12
actions endeared him to everyone who loved him, including his fiancée, 13
Liv, his parents, Dawn Marie and Vince, and his siblings, Dominic, 14
Francesca, Toran, and Gavin. Through his dedicated endeavors and 15
dependable job performance, he earned the enduring praise and respect 16
of his supervisors, coworkers, and peers in the community. He was a 17
fine ambassador for his chosen vocation, and his numerous 18
contributions will be remembered with pride and appreciation; and 19
WHEREAS, Jacob Derbin’s devotion to the community, as well as his 20
selfless commitment to the welfare of others, distinguished him as an 21
exemplary human being and a leading citizen, and he will be remembered 22
as a spirited individual who contributed immeasurably to the world 23
around him. It is our sincere hope that his memory will be a source of 24
comfort to those who cherished him; therefore be it 25
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 26
S. R. No. 371 Page 2
As Adopted by the Senate
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to this 27
honorable man, Officer Jacob J. Derbin; and be it further 28
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 29
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Officer Jacob 30
J. Derbin. 31
