                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring First Baptist Church of Columbus on its
              Bicentennial.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly    1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate First Baptist Church of Columbus     2
on its Two Hundredth Anniversary, celebrated May 19, 2024; and           3
     WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1824, First Baptist Church of       4
Columbus has offered its members the pathway to a more meaningful life   5
by illuminating and demonstrating the precepts on which the Baptist      6
Church was founded. The first Baptist congregation in the city, the      7
church previously existed in various other locations before breaking     8
ground at its present site in 2007 and holding its first service there   9
in 2008. The spirit of love and Christian fellowship that exists         10
within the church also extends beyond those sacred walls to touch the    11
lives of everyone encountered by these devout disciples; and             12
     WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of the Reverend Dr. Paul      13
Large and his predecessors, First Baptist Church of Columbus has         14
experienced continual growth and has provided a source of moral          15
guidance and spiritual motivation for its congregation. Over the         16
years, the church has enhanced the quality of life within Central        17
Ohio, and through its generous efforts, it has earned the gratitude      18
and respect of the many citizens it has so capably served; and           19
     WHEREAS, An occasion such as this is an important milestone that    20
represents dedication and commitment. For two centuries, the members     21
of First Baptist Church of Columbus have kept their faith alive in the   22
community, and on this special anniversary, they have accepted the       23
challenge of carrying their beliefs into the future; therefore be it     24
    RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General    25

As Adopted by the Senate
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend First Baptist        26
Church of Columbus on its Two Hundredth Anniversary and pay tribute to      27
all those joining in the celebration of this joyous event; and be it        28
further                                                                     29
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                 30
authenticated copy of this Resolution to First Baptist Church of            31
