A RESOLUTION
In memory of Shirley A. Huffman.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are saddened to learn of the passing of Shirley A. Huffman and 2
extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends, including 3
her son, Senate President Matt Huffman; and 4
WHEREAS, Shirley Huffman left an indelible impression on the lives 5
she touched, and she will be remembered as a spirited woman and a fine 6
Ohioan. Known and respected as a founder of Heartbeat of Lima, an 7
Allen County poll worker, and a longtime volunteer with St. Rita’s 8
Auxiliary and St. Charles Borromeo Parish, she was committed to 9
improving the quality of life in our society, and her personal 10
sacrifices of time and energy to the Allen County community, as well 11
as to her family and friends, will be her legacy; and 12
WHEREAS, A devoted wife to her husband, the late Lawrence, a 13
loving mother to her children, Lawrence, Kathleen, Michael, Matthew, 14
Daniel, John, Joan, Thomas, and the late Nicholas, and a supportive 15
grandmother to her twenty-seven grandchildren and fifty-two great- 16
grandchildren, Shirley Huffman always used her talents to the benefit 17
of those around her. Indeed, the laurels of her life stand as a 18
tribute not only to her but also to those she left behind, for she 19
manifested the virtues we all seek to emulate; and 20

never be filled, the world is a richer place for her having been in 22
it, and she will be sorely missed for her compassion, her character, 23
and her integrity. May the memory of this wonderful woman be 24
everlasting; therefore be it 25
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 26
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, extend our heartfelt 27
sympathy to all those who are mourning the loss of Shirley A. Huffman 28
and salute the memory of a truly exemplary daughter of Ohio; and be it 29
further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 31
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Shirley A. 32
Huffman. 33
