A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Africentric Early College High School girls
basketball team as the 2024 Division III State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Africentric Early College 2
High School girls basketball team on securing the 2024 Division III 3
State Championship; and 4
WHEREAS, The talented Africentric Early College High School girls 5
basketball team is to be heartily commended for decisively earning 6
this year’s Division III State Championship. The squad’s prowess over 7
Ottawa-Glandorf resulted in a final score of 58-47, reflecting the 8
outstanding collective effort by a gifted group of athletes, and this 9
victory marks the program’s second consecutive state title and its 10
ninth overall state crown. Indeed, the team has devoted countless 11
hours to training and practice in order to ensure peak conditioning, 12
and this demanding regimen has paid handsome dividends; and 13
WHEREAS, The members of the Africentric Early College High School 14
girls basketball team have epitomized the power, poise, and precision 15
that befit true champions. Despite the pressure that comes with 16
competition, the Nubians have consistently maintained their composure 17
and morale, exhibiting strength, speed, stamina, and agility in every 18
challenging encounter. Time and again, they have risen to the 19
occasion, amply demonstrating their unflagging determination, and 20
their impressive maturity and finesse have earned them widespread 21
respect, even among their most formidable rivals; and 22
WHEREAS, By weathering a rigorous schedule and prevailing over a 23
host of adversaries, the players for the Africentric Early College 24
High School girls basketball team have learned much about dedication, 25
self-discipline, leadership, and perseverance. Their first-place 26

finish is a measure of their stalwart commitment to the sport, and 27
their indomitable spirit has made their families, friends, and Coach 28
Janicia Anderson, incredibly proud; therefore be it 29
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 30
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Africentric 31
Early College High School girls basketball team on its brilliant 2023- 32
2024 season and wish all those involved with the program continued 33
success; and be it further 34
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 35
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Africentric Early College 36
High School girls basketball team. 37
