A RESOLUTION
Honoring Carrie Furbee as a 2024 Division II State
Champion in swimming.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Carrie Furbee on winning the 2
2024 Division II State Championship titles in the 50- and 100-yard 3
freestyle events; and 4
WHEREAS, Carrie Furbee’s outstanding ability and spirited drive, 5
as well as her quickness and tenacity, have distinguished her as a 6
superior athlete and a standout member of the Grandview Heights High 7
School girls swim team. At this year’s Division II State meet, she 8
placed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.02 and the 9
100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.06, and she has gained the 10
respect and admiration of all those who have witnessed her in action; 11
and 12
WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment 13
more than swimming, and athletes such as Carrie Furbee exemplify the 14
qualities necessary for competition in any sport, including 15
discipline, agility, conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long 16
hours of practice and competition, she has conscientiously applied 17
herself to the quest for excellence as an athlete, and she is 18
deserving of commendation for her tremendous efforts; and 19
WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future 20
leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and 21
the rewards of individual effort, athletic competition has become a 22
valuable educational tool. Through her participation in sports, Carrie 23
Furbee has learned lessons of perseverance, hard work, and fair and 24
honest competition that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her 25
throughout her lifetime; therefore be it 26

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 27
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Carrie 28
Furbee on her outstanding performance in state competition and extend 29
best wishes for continued success; and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 31
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Carrie Furbee. 32
