A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Fort Loramie High School girls basketball
team as the 2024 Division IV State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Fort Loramie High School girls 2
basketball team on winning the 2024 Division IV State Championship; 3
and 4
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 5
Fort Loramie High School girls basketball team have combined talent 6
and spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish 7
themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable 8
dedication, the Redskins have worked diligently toward attaining 9
ultimate proficiency in basketball, and as a result, they defeated a 10
tough Waterford team by the score of 42-29 to win this year’s Division 11
IV State Championship, their fourth such title in program history, and 12
finished the season with an impressive 28-2 record; and 13
WHEREAS, The Redskins’ achievements and leadership are a 14
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the 15
players, their families, their school, their community, and their 16
coach, Jerry Close. In leading his team to victory, Coach Close has 17
not only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the fullest 18
but also instilled in them a valuable sense of determination, 19
perseverance, and camaraderie; and 20
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 21
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased 22
to pay tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coach 23
for a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have 24
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in 25
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it 26

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 27
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Fort 28
Loramie High School girls basketball team on its tremendous season and 29
salute the members and coach as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be 30
it further 31
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 32
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Fort Loramie High School 33
girls basketball team. 34
