                       A RESOLUTION
    Recognizing National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week in Ohio,
                          April 15-19, 2024.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th   1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize April 15-19, 2024,     2
as National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week in Ohio; and                 3
     WHEREAS, National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week in Ohio is an     4
important occasion, for this event provides a unique opportunity to      5
highlight an issue of great importance to our state. Each year,          6
employees of the Ohio Department of Transportation, national road        7
safety organizations, government agencies, and private companies place   8
themselves at risk by engaging in vital construction projects on busy    9
city streets and highways, and it is critical that every effort be       10
made to reduce the dangers they face; and                                11
     WHEREAS, National Work Zone Safety Awareness Week in Ohio aims to   12
decrease the incidence of work zone crashes and injuries through a       13
variety of educational initiatives, and among its goals, it seeks to     14
raise awareness among drivers, encourage a uniform set of safety tips,   15
emphasize the values of training and the importance of best practices    16
in regard to work zone safety, encourage communication between workers   17
and motorists, and engage with local partners. Similar events have       18
achieved great success in other states, and we are confident that this   19
year’s campaign will help improve the quality of life in Ohio; and       20
     WHEREAS, It is through the work of innovative individuals such as   21
all those associated with organizing National Work Zone Safety           22
Awareness Week in Ohio that our state has gained a reputation as a       23
friendly, productive, and pleasant place in which to live. Indeed, we    24
applaud the many people that have played a role in bringing attention    25
to this important observance; therefore be it                            26

As Offered
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     27
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,           28
recognize April 15-19, 2024, as National Work Zone Safety Awareness        29
Week in Ohio; and be it further                                            30
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     31
duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of          32
Ohio.                                                                      33
