SUMMARY
Requires the Director of Transportation to install a system of security cameras at all rest
areas by June 30, 2031.
Requires the Director of Transportation to consult with the Director of Public Safety and
the Attorney General in determining the appropriate schedule for installation and
maintenance of the security cameras.
DETAILED ANALYSIS
The bill requires the Director of Transportation to install and maintain a system of
security cameras at each rest area over which the Department of Transportation (ODOT) has
jurisdiction by June 30, 2031. The Director of Transportation must consult with the Director of
Public Safety and the Attorney General in determining an appropriate schedule for the
installation and maintenance of the security cameras.1 According to a spokesperson for ODOT,
ODOT is currently installing security cameras at rest areas as those facilities are either built or
renovated.2
