                       A RESOLUTION
      Recognizing Ohio Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month
                              April 2024.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th   1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize April 2024 as Ohio     2
Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month; and                            3
     WHEREAS, The incidents and prevalence of child abuse and neglect    4
have reached alarming proportions, and in an effort to address this      5
issue, Governor Mike DeWine designated April 2024 as Ohio Child Abuse    6
and Neglect Prevention Month. During the month of April each year,       7
various educational activities and events are coordinated in an effort   8
to seek and apply solutions to this escalating problem; and              9
     WHEREAS, Childhood is a formative time, and communities, family     10
members, educators, public officials, and faith-based organizations      11
all play important roles in helping to ensure that our children are      12
safe and can grow surrounded by love and stability. Every Ohioan has a   13
responsibility to support children and promote stable families across    14
our state; and                                                           15
     WHEREAS, Child abuse and neglect prevention is one of the most      16
critical issues we can address for the long-term prosperity of our       17
country. Effective child development is hindered by toxic stress         18
resulting from abuse and neglect, yet we can strive for a more           19
promising future for this next generation of leaders by encouraging      20
parental resiliency, social connection, concrete support, and            21
knowledge of the social and emotional aspects of parenting. We hold      22
sacred the trust of Ohio’s most valuable resource, our children, and     23
the future of our country depends on the opportunities we provide them   24
today; therefore be it                                                   25

As Offered
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     26
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,           27
recognize April 2024 as Ohio Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month;     28
and be it further                                                          29
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     30
duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the Ohio Children’s        31
Trust Fund and the news media of Ohio.                                     32
