                       A RESOLUTION
                        Honoring Makyah Newlun
                  as a 2024 State Wrestling Champion.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th    1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Makyah Newlun on     2
winning the 2024 State Wrestling Championship in the 145-pound weight     3
class; and                                                                4
     WHEREAS, A senior at East Liverpool High School, Makyah Newlun has   5
combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good    6
sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly exceptional athlete.        7
With admirable dedication, she has worked diligently to attain            8
ultimate proficiency in wrestling, and as a result, she won this          9
year’s State Championship title in the 145-pound weight class,            10
finishing the season with an impressive 49-2 record; and                  11
     WHEREAS, Makyah Newlun’s accomplishments and leadership, both in     12
and out of athletic competition, are a justifiable source of pride and    13
an excellent reflection not only on her but also on her family, her       14
teammates, her coaches, her school, and her community. Her unwavering     15
commitment to excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of         16
many, and she is certainly deserving of high praise; and                  17
     WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role    18
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased      19
to pay tribute to Makyah Newlun on an exemplary season. Indeed, the       20
same maturity and experience she has gained through her participation     21
in wrestling will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of the        22
future; therefore be it                                                   23
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of    24
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,          25

commend Makyah Newlun on her personal success and salute her as one of     26
Ohio’s finest young citizens; and be it further                            27
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     28
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Makyah Newlun.             29
