                       A RESOLUTION
              Honoring the Putnam County District Library
                   on its One Hundredth Anniversary.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th   1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to applaud the Putnam County        2
District Library on the auspicious celebration of its Centennial; and    3
     WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting     4
tribute to the Putnam County District Library, for throughout its        5
history, this fine institution has attained a remarkable record of       6
service to the area. Founded on February 12, 1924, the system has        7
grown to eight branches across the county, and it is truly worthy of     8
admiration for its tremendous efforts; and                               9
     WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Putnam County District Library    10
has fostered education, culture, and individual growth by providing a    11
variety of innovative and beneficial programs and services. As a focal   12
point for many local activities and a valuable instrument for            13
community improvement, the library system has earned the respect and     14
appreciation of countless patrons and has set an example of excellence   15
that is worthy of emulation; and                                         16
     WHEREAS, Public libraries play an important role in today’s         17
society, serving as receptacles of shared knowledge, information, and    18
ideas. They offer a means of enjoyment, self-advancement, and            19
intellectual development for all individuals, and as repositories for    20
the best of our nation’s intellectual endeavors, they are vital to the   21
preservation of our country’s heritage, principles, and ideals. We are   22
proud to note that it is through the efforts of institutions such as     23
the Putnam County District Library that our state has maintained its     24
reputation as a friendly, productive, and pleasant place in which to     25
live and work; therefore be it                                           26

As Offered
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     27
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,           28
commend the Putnam County District Library on its One Hundredth            29
Anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it        30
further                                                                    31
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     32
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Putnam County          33
District Library.                                                          34
