A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the Month of the Military Child in Ohio, April
2024.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to observe April 2024 as the Month of the Military 2
Child in Ohio; and 3
WHEREAS, Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger 4
designated April as the Month of the Military Child in 1986 in an 5
effort to increase public knowledge and understanding of the issues 6
surrounding children who have a parent in the military. The dependents 7
of U.S. Armed Forces members are to be acknowledged for their strength 8
and resilience; and 9
WHEREAS, As military postings frequently change, personnel 10
reassignments and deployments can be difficult for families, 11
especially regarding educational transitions. Military students learn 12
to be resilient as a result of attending multiple school systems from 13
kindergarten through high school graduation, and consequently, their 14
abilities to deal with life-changing events are a source of 15
inspiration; and 16
WHEREAS, The State of Ohio is committed to easing the efforts of 17
these scholastic transitions for dependents of military families so 18
that they are afforded the same opportunities for success as their 19
peers and are not delayed in achieving their educational goals. By 20
observing the Month of the Military Child and participating in related 21
activities, Ohioans demonstrate their support of the children of U.S. 22
Armed Forces members; therefore be it 23
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 24
