A RESOLUTION
Honoring Marcus Blaze on winning a 2024 Division I State
Wrestling Championship.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to recognize Marcus Blaze, a junior at Perrysburg 2
High School, as the 2024 Division I State Wrestling Champion in the 3
132-pound weight class; and 4
WHEREAS, Displaying exceptional form, ability, leadership, and 5
dedication during the 2023-24 season, Marcus Blaze has certainly 6
distinguished himself as one of the most talented wrestlers in the 7
State of Ohio. The number one ranked wrestler in the United States, he 8
won a gold medal at the U17 World Championships in Istanbul last 9
summer, and at this year’s Division I State Tournament, he pinned four 10
straight opponents to earn his third consecutive state championship 11
title; and 12
WHEREAS, Marcus Blaze’s unwavering commitment to excellence has 13
won him the respect and esteem of many. He has inspired his teammates, 14
thrilled his fans, gained the respect of his opponents, and made his 15
coaches and family very proud; and 16
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 17
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased 18
to pay tribute to Marcus Blaze on an exemplary season. Indeed, the 19
same maturity and experience he has gained through his participation 20
in wrestling will greatly aid him in meeting the challenges of the 21
future; therefore be it 22
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 23
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Marcus Blaze on 24
his personal success and salute him as one of Ohio’s finest young 25

athletes; and be it further 26
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 27
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Marcus Blaze. 28
