                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring Milly Leonard as a 2024 Division I State Champion
              in swimming.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly     1
of Ohio are pleased to honor Milly Leonard on winning first place in      2
the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events at the 2024 Division I State       3
Swimming and Diving Meet; and                                             4
     WHEREAS, Milly Leonard’s outstanding ability and spirited drive,     5
as well as her quickness and tenacity, have distinguished her as a        6
superior athlete and a standout member of the Dublin Jerome High          7
School girls swim team. Indeed, she decisively secured first place in     8
the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:49.87 and the 500-yard      9
freestyle event with a time of 4:52.77 at this year’s Division I State    10
Swimming and Diving Meet, and throughout the 2024 season, she has         11
gained the respect and admiration of all those who have witnessed her     12
in action; and                                                            13
     WHEREAS, Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment   14
more than swimming. Athletes such as Milly Leonard exemplify the          15
qualities necessary for excellence in any sport, including discipline,    16
agility, conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long hours of        17
practice and competition, she has consistently demonstrated the talent    18
and motivation that are the hallmarks of a true champion; and             19
     WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future     20
leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and     21
the rewards of individual effort, athletic competition has become a       22
valuable educational tool. Through her participation in sports, Milly     23
Leonard has learned lessons of perseverance, hard work, and fair and      24
honest competition that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her       25
throughout her lifetime; therefore be it                                  26

As Introduced
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General     27
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Milly          28
Leonard on her outstanding performance in state competition and extend     29
best wishes for continued success; and be it further                       30
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                31
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Milly Leonard.                    32
