A RESOLUTION
Honoring the St. John’s Lutheran School boys basketball
team as the 2024 All Ohio Lutheran State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the St. John’s Lutheran School 2
boys basketball team on winning the 2024 All Ohio Lutheran State 3
Championship; and 4
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 5
St. John’s Lutheran School boys basketball team have combined talent 6
and spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish 7
themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable 8
dedication, members Noah Burns, Jackson Firestone, Cody Gallmeyer, 9
Joseph Hatfield, Luke Boehm, Christopher Fisher, Lincoln Firestone, 10
Sam Blumenschein, Eli Botkin, Max Russo, Joshua Murphy, Colson 11
Nageotte, Asher Holsopple, and Nicholas Hawkins have worked diligently 12
toward attaining ultimate proficiency in basketball. As a result, the 13
Jaguars defeated a tough St. Paul Westlake squad to win this year’s 14
All Ohio Lutheran State Championship, their second such title in 15
program history, and finished the season with an impressive 23-2 16
record; and 17
WHEREAS, The Jaguars’ achievements and leadership are a 18
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the 19
players, their families, their school, their community, and their 20
coaches. In leading their team to victory, Coach Scott Thrush and his 21
assistants, Dan Gallmeyer and Trevor Burns, have not only helped the 22
athletes to develop their talents to the fullest but also instilled in 23
them a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; 24
and 25
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 26

in the total education of our young people, we are pleased to pay 27
tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coaches for 28
a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have 29
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in 30
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it 31
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 32
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the St. John’s 33
Lutheran School boys basketball team on its tremendous season and 34
salute the members and coaches as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and 35
be it further 36
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 37
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the St. John’s Lutheran 38
School boys basketball team. 39
