A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Upper Arlington High School girls swim team
as the 2024 Division I State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to applaud the Upper Arlington High School girls 2
swim team on securing the 2024 Division I State Championship; and 3
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 4
Upper Arlington High School girls swim team have combined talent and 5
spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish 6
themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable 7
dedication, the Golden Bears have worked diligently toward attaining 8
ultimate proficiency in swimming, and as a result, they compiled 313 9
points to win this year’s Division I State Championship, their first 10
state crown since 2017 and their thirteenth such title in program 11
history; and 12
WHEREAS, The Golden Bears’ achievements and leadership are a 13
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the 14
swimmers, their families, their school, their community, and their 15
coach, John Sands. In leading his team to victory, Coach Sands has not 16
only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the fullest but 17
also instilled in them a valuable sense of determination, 18
perseverance, and camaraderie; and 19
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 20
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased 21
to pay tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coach 22
for a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have 23
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in 24
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it 25

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 26
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Upper 27
Arlington High School girls swim team on its state championship and 28
extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further 29
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 30
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Upper Arlington High 31
School girls swim team. 32
