A RESOLUTION
In memory of Stanley J. Aronoff.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Stanley J. 2
Aronoff and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and 3
friends; and 4
WHEREAS, Stanley Aronoff left an indelible impression on the 5
people whose lives he touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited 6
individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around him. 7
Serving three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives before moving 8
to the Ohio Senate in 1967, he went on to chair various committees, 9
including the Finance Committee, and held the leadership positions of 10
president pro tempore and president, and over the course of his three 11
decades of public service, he made a tremendous impact on our state. A 12
tireless champion of the arts, he was instrumental in the creation of 13
the Ohio Arts Council as well as the renovation and restoration of the 14
Ohio Statehouse. He was steadfast in his commitment to improving 15
Cincinnati, and he was credited with advancing the state funding that 16
led to the completion of such projects as the expansion of the 17
Cincinnati Convention Center and the conversion of Union Terminal into 18
the Museum Center; and 19
WHEREAS, Stanley Aronoff’s regard for improving the quality of 20
life in our society was clearly evident in his personal sacrifices of 21
time and effort to his family, friends, and community, and he will be 22

remembered for his generosity, talents, and seemingly inexhaustible 23
energy. A practicing attorney for more than fifty-seven years, he was 24
also a lobbyist and a consultant, and he remained involved with such 25
organizations as Cincinnati Association for the Arts, the Cincinnati 26
Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, and the 27
Classical Music Hall of Fame. He displayed exceptional concern in all 28
of his endeavors, and his absence will be keenly felt; and 29
WHEREAS, A loyal husband to his wife, Janet, a loving father to 30
his three children, Tracy, the late Jay, and the late Leslie, and a 31
dedicated grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 32
Stanley Aronoff readily extended warmth and understanding to others, 33
and the legacy of care and commitment he established will stand as a 34
monument to his personal character; therefore be it 35
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 36
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, express a profound 37
sense of loss and sincere regret at the passing of Stanley J. Aronoff; 38
and be it further 39
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 40
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Stanley J. 41
Aronoff. 42
