                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring the City of Ravenna on its Two Hundred Twenty-
              fifth Anniversary.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly    1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the City of Ravenna on the           2
auspicious occasion of its Two Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary; and     3
     WHEREAS, America is only as strong as her individual communities,   4
which are unique and which make significant contributions to the         5
culture of our state and nation. Since it was founded in 1799 by         6
Benjamin Tappan, the City of Ravenna has experienced dramatic growth     7
and change, and yet, commendably, it has retained the numerous           8
engaging qualities that have endeared it to generations of               9
inhabitants. Clearly, it has built on the best traditions of the past    10
to ensure a future filled with hope and promise; and                     11
     WHEREAS, Over the past two hundred twenty-five years, the City of   12
Ravenna has enjoyed the benefits of a generous and civic-minded          13
population, and those who currently make the community their home take   14
great pride in its rich heritage and its many local landmarks. Indeed,   15
they have exhibited cooperation, integrity, and a willingness to work    16
hard, and their efforts have certainly made the area a pleasant and      17
friendly place in which to live; and                                     18
     WHEREAS, The Two Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary of the City of    19
Ravenna offers its citizens the opportunity to share their memories      20
and experiences and to reflect on life in their close-knit community.    21
A vigorous commitment to public service and an earnest devotion to       22
lofty ideals have long been second nature to many of the city’s          23
residents, and vigilance, industriousness, and generosity have come to   24
typify their collective character; therefore be it                       25

As Introduced
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General     26
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the City of         27
Ravenna on its Two Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary and extend best        28
wishes for continued peace and prosperity; and be it further               29
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                30
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Ravenna.              31
