A BILL
To enact section 101.16 of the Revised Code 1
regarding the use of personal electronic devices 2
by General Assembly members. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 101.16 of the Revised Code be 4
enacted to read as follows: 5
Sec. 101.16. (A) As used in this section: 6
"Committee" and "meeting" have the same meanings as in 7
section 101.15 of the Revised Code. 8
"Personal electronic device" means a personal mobile 9
telephone, laptop computer, tablet, or other wireless electronic 10
telecommunication device. 11
(B) No member of the general assembly, during a committee 12
meeting or floor session, shall use a personal electronic 13
device. 14
(C) Division (B) of this section does not apply to a 15
member who is located in the gallery seating or rear lobby of 16
the house or senate chamber, or in the audience of a committee 17
meeting. 18
