A RESOLUTION
In memory of Stanley J. Aronoff.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio pay tribute to the memory of Stanley J. 2
Aronoff, who served as a distinguished member of the Ohio House of 3
Representatives and the Ohio Senate; and 4
WHEREAS, Stan Aronoff will be remembered fondly by all those who 5
knew and loved him, and his absence will leave an irreparable void in 6
our society. Respected for his tenure with the Ohio General Assembly, 7
he was an advocate for the growth and progress of the State of Ohio 8
and its people, and during his time as a legislator, he was an ardent 9
champion for Republican interests as well as the arts. Indeed, he has 10
been credited with establishing the Ohio Arts Council and for 11
supporting the restoration of the Ohio Statehouse, and he has been 12

celebrated for his noteworthy commitment by the naming of the Aronoff 13
Center for the Arts in Cincinnati, the Aronoff Center for Design and 14
Art at the University of Cincinnati, and the Stanley J. Aronoff 15
Laboratory of Biological Sciences at The Ohio State University in his 16
honor; and 17
WHEREAS, A graduate of Harvard Law School, Stan Aronoff was 18
elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1960, where he served 19
three terms and garnered enduring respect from his peers as well as 20
his constituents. In 1967, he was elected to the Ohio Senate, where he 21
spent many of his additional thirty years as a legislator in the 22
positions of president pro tempore and president. His passion for 23
community service was always evident in his own approach to public 24
life, and he strove to be "remembered for more than the bricks and 25
mortar [but] as a person who cares about people." He furthered his 26
contributions to Greater Cincinnati as a lawyer, lobbyist, and 27
consultant, working with Aronoff, Rosen, and Hunt, LPA, Aronoff & 28
Associates, and State Street Consultants, and he dedicated his time to 29
such organizations as the Cincinnati Association for the Arts, the 30
Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the 31
Park, and the Classical Music Hall of Fame. He was admired by his 32
fellow citizens, friends, and family alike for his positive philosophy 33
of life, and he has left a stalwart legacy to our state that will 34
surely live on; and 35
WHEREAS, Without question, Stan Aronoff made the world much 36
fuller, and he was especially devoted to the individuals who had a 37
treasured relationship with him, including his wife, Janet, his 38
children, Tracy, the late Jay, and the late Leslie, his grandchildren 39
and great-grandchildren, and his siblings and extended relatives. All 40
those who cherished him can find strength in and solace in the happy 41
moments shared with this great man. Most assuredly, the State of Ohio 42
has benefited exponentially from his life’s work, and he will be 43
remembered for his visionary example of citizenship; therefore be it 44
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 45
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, offer 46
our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Stanley J. 47
Aronoff and express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret on the 48
sorrowful occasion of his death; and be it further 49
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 50
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Stanley 51
J. Aronoff. 52
