A RESOLUTION
Honoring Cheryl J. Lyman on her retirement
from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to 2
Cheryl J. Lyman on the occasion of her retirement as the executive 3
director of the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, February 29, 4
2024; and 5
WHEREAS, Throughout nearly thirty-five years of distinguished 6
public service, Cheryl Lyman has demonstrated an unwavering dedication 7
to performing her duties and fulfilling her responsibilities with the 8
utmost efficiency and competence. During her career, she served in 9
various roles with the City of Columbus and such state agencies as the 10
Office of Budget and Management, the Department of Administrative 11
Services, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of 12
Development as well as with The Ohio State University and Otterbein 13
University, and she also had a stint with the Ohio Facilities 14
Construction Commission as its chief of program services from 2005 to 15
2013 before being named OFCC’s executive director in 2019; and 16
WHEREAS, Cheryl Lyman is, indeed, a remarkable individual, 17
combining civic concern with selfless initiative to become a dynamic 18
leader in the State of Ohio. While guiding the Ohio Facilities 19
Construction Commission, she has overseen numerous capital projects 20
and their funding and administered various initiatives, and both she 21
and the agency have received honors and awards. Always sincere and 22
energetic in her approach to her work, she has given generously of her 23
time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has 24
displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our 25
society; and 26

WHEREAS, The enthusiasm and expertise Cheryl Lyman has shown in 27
her endeavors have earned her the respect of all those with whom she 28
has been associated. As she retires, she has the satisfaction of 29
knowing that she has provided a valuable service to the state and has 30
established a record of personal and professional achievement that 31
will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it 32
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 33
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 34
congratulate Cheryl J. Lyman on her retirement and salute her as one 35
of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further 36
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 37
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Cheryl J. Lyman. 38
