A RESOLUTION
Honoring Mike Elder as a 2023 Division II Co-Coach of the
Year in football.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Mike Elder on being named a 2023 2
Division II Co-Coach of the Year by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters 3
Association; and 4
WHEREAS, As the head football coach at Avon High School, Mike 5
Elder has demonstrated remarkable integrity and dedication. Throughout 6
the 2023 season, he not only encouraged his athletes to develop their 7
talents to the fullest but also instilled in each a valuable sense of 8
determination, perseverance, camaraderie, and spirit, and as a result, 9
he guided the Eagles to their best season in program history, posting 10
a 14-1 record and making it to the state semifinal; and 11
WHEREAS, The expertise, guidance, and sound judgment of coaches 12
such as Mike Elder are critical to the ultimate success of any 13
athletic endeavor. Due largely to his tireless efforts, Avon’s team 14
members have emerged as winners, both in and out of competition, and 15
he has earned the genuine respect and admiration of many for his 16
fantastic work; and 17
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 18
in the total education of our young people, we are pleased to pay 19
tribute to Mike Elder for a job well done. His outstanding rapport 20
with his players as well as with his fellow coaches has been a vital 21
factor in his accomplishments, and he is certainly deserving of high 22
praise; therefore be it 23
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 24
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Mike Elder on 25

his recent accolade and extend best wishes for the future; and be it 26

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 28
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Mike Elder. 29
