A RESOLUTION
Honoring Chief Jeff Lykins on his retirement.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Chief Jeff Lykins 2
on the auspicious occasion of his retirement from the Dayton Fire 3
Department; and 4
WHEREAS, Versatile, dedicated, and dependable, Jeff Lykins has 5
responded admirably to one of society’s most critical needs by 6
faithfully serving as a member of the Dayton Fire Department since 7
1992, including as chief since 2020. Whenever a challenge has 8
confronted him, he has met it with skill and resolve, performing his 9
duties in a manner that has always surpassed even the most demanding 10
expectations. His approach to a variety of formidable tasks has always 11
been distinguished by the utmost competence and dedication, and his 12
strength of character is reflected not only in his choice of 13
occupation but also in his decisive leadership; and 14
WHEREAS, During his forty-one-year tenure, Jeff Lykins has 15
conscientiously protected the lives and property of area residents by 16
bravely jeopardizing his own safety in order to ensure the well-being 17
of others. His unstinting contributions of time, talent, and seemingly 18
inexhaustible energy have made him a reliable firefighter in the most 19
extreme situations and have earned him the respect of those privileged 20
to work beside him, as well as the profound gratitude and appreciation 21
of the entire community; and 22
WHEREAS, We are proud to note that it is through the unsurpassed 23
efforts and deep commitment of conscientious people such as Jeff 24
Lykins that the State of Ohio continues to grow and prosper. Over the 25
years, he has striven to serve his fellow citizens to the best of his 26
ability, and we applaud him for his fine efforts; therefore be it 27

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 28
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Chief Jeff 29
Lykins on his retirement and extend best wishes for health and 30
happiness in the years to come; and be it further 31
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 32
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Chief Jeff Lykins. 33
