A RESOLUTION
In memory of Senior Airman Brian “Kody” Johnson.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of 2
Senior Airman Brian “Kody” Johnson on the sorrowful occasion of his 3
death; and 4
WHEREAS, Although there are no words to ease the grief now felt, 5
surely there is solace in the remembrance of having known such an 6
outstanding individual as Kody Johnson. Joining the U.S. Air Force in 7
2018, he was a CV-22 special missions aviator and unit deployment 8
manager assigned to the 21st Special Operations Squadron, 353rd 9
Special Operations Wing, at Yokota Air Base, and he received such 10
decorations as the Air Medal, the Air and Space Commendation and 11
Achievement Medals, the Meritorious Unit Award, the Good Conduct 12
Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on 13
Terrorism Service Medal. He was airborne off the shore of Yakushima 14
Island when he was killed in the line of duty, and his absence will be 15
keenly felt; and 16
WHEREAS, In many significant endeavors, including his membership 17
in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Kody Johnson always used his 18
talents to the benefit of others, and the laurels of his life stand as 19
a tribute not only to him but also to those he left behind, including 20
his mother and stepfather, Tina and Jamey, his sister, Marley, and his 21
stepbrothers, Tyler and Travis. The great traditions of our country’s 22
service men and women are an important chapter of American history, 23
and his family and friends can be proud of the sacrifices he made to 24
ensure freedom and justice for all people; and 25
WHEREAS, Although the void his death has created can never be 26
filled, Kody Johnson will be remembered as a spirited individual who 27

contributed immeasurably to the world around him. It is certain that 28
the world is a richer place for his having been in it, and he will be 29
sorely missed; therefore be it 30
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 31
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, mourn the loss and 32
salute the memory of a truly unique individual, Senior Airman Brian 33
“Kody” Johnson; and be it further 34
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 35
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Senior Airman 36
Brian “Kody” Johnson. 37
