A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Columbus Crew
as the 2023 MLS Cup Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Columbus Crew 2
on winning the 2023 Major League Soccer Cup; and 3
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of athletes, the members of the 4
Columbus Crew have combined talent and spirit with the highest ideals 5
of good sportsmanship to establish themselves as truly exceptional 6
competitors. With admirable dedication, the players have worked 7
diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in soccer, and as a 8
result, they defeated a tough Los Angeles Football Club by the score 9
of 2-1 to win this year’s MLS Cup, their third such title in franchise 10
history; and 11
WHEREAS, The Crew’s achievements and leadership are a justifiable 12
source of pride and an excellent reflection on the players, their 13
families, their city, and their first-year coach, Wilfried Nancy. In 14
leading the team to victory, Coach Nancy and his assistants have not 15
only helped the athletes develop their talents to the fullest but also 16
instilled in each a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and 17
camaraderie; and 18
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important part 19
in the development of role models for our young people, we are 20
overjoyed to pay tribute to these fine athletes, to their outstanding 21
coaches, and to the team owners and staff. The admiration and respect 22
that the team members have gained through rigorous competition in 23
Major League Soccer will greatly aid them in meeting the challenges of 24

the future; therefore be it 25
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 26
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, 27
commend the Columbus Crew on a tremendous season and extend best 28
wishes for continued success; and be it further 29
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 30
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Columbus Crew. 31
