                       A RESOLUTION
         Honoring the Marion Local High School football team
        on securing the 2023 Division VII State Championship.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th    1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend the Marion Local High     2
School football team as the 2023 Division VII State Champion; and         3
     WHEREAS, The members of the Marion Local High School football team   4
are exemplary athletes, and they have shown themselves to be truly        5
exceptional competitors. During the 2023 season, the Flyers bested        6
Dalton 38-0 to win the Division VII State Championship, their third       7
consecutive state crown and their fourteenth such title in program        8
history. The unwavering commitment of the players and coaches has         9
earned them the esteem of many, and they are certainly deserving of       10
high praise; and                                                          11
     WHEREAS, Coach Tim Goodwin has demonstrated remarkable energy,       12
enthusiasm, and dedication in guiding the Marion Local High School        13
football team to victory, and his skill is reflected in the squad’s       14
outstanding accomplishments. Due largely to his tireless efforts, the     15
members have distinguished themselves on the gridiron, and he has         16
received respect and admiration from all who know him; and                17
     WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future     18
leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and     19
the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has      20
become a valuable tool. By taking part in sports, the members of the      21
Marion Local High School football team have gained discipline and         22
perseverance that will help them in all aspects of their lives;           23
therefore be it                                                           24
    RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     25

As Offered
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,           26
recognize the Marion Local High School football team on its success        27
and offer best wishes for the future of the program; and be it further     28
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     29
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Marion Local High      30
School football team.                                                      31
