                       A RESOLUTION
                  Honoring St. Mary Magdalene Parish
                   on its Seventy-fifth Anniversary.
     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th   1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate St. Mary            2
Magdalene Parish on its Seventy-fifth Anniversary, January 27, 2024;     3
and                                                                      4
     WHEREAS, To meet the needs of the growing population of Lake        5
County, Bishop Edward Hoban appointed Father Harold Laubacher as the     6
pastor of a new church in Willowick, and St. Mary Magdalene Parish was   7
commissioned on January 27, 1949, and dedicated less than two years      8
later. Over the years, the church building has been enlarged several     9
times and reconfigured in the late 1980s, and it operated a school for   10
more than five decades as well as instituted a variety of programs and   11
switched from a single pastor with assistants to a pastoral team. The    12
parish has not only provided a source of moral guidance and spiritual    13
motivation for each of its members, but it has also enhanced the         14
quality of life within the surrounding area, earning the gratitude and   15
respect of the many citizens it has so capably served; and               16
     WHEREAS, Since its inception, St. Mary Magdalene Parish has         17
offered its members the pathway to a more meaningful life by             18
illuminating and demonstrating the precepts on which the church was      19
founded. The spirit of love and Christian fellowship that exists among   20
the parishioners not only prevails within the church edifice itself      21
but also extends beyond those sacred walls to touch the lives of         22
everyone encountered by these devout disciples; and                      23
     WHEREAS, An occasion such as this is an important milestone that    24
represents dedication and commitment. For three quarters of a century,   25
the members of St. Mary Magdalene Parish have kept their faith alive     26

in the Willowick community, and on this special anniversary, all those     27
associated with the congregation have accepted the challenge of            28
carrying their beliefs into the future; therefore be it                    29
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of     30
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution,           31
commend St. Mary Magdalene Parish on its Seventy-fifth Anniversary and     32
pay tribute to all those joining in the celebration of this joyous         33
event; and be it further                                                   34
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit     35
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to St. Mary Magdalene         36
Parish.                                                                    37
