A RESOLUTION
Honoring Chancellor Randy Gardner
on his retirement from the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 135th 1
General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Randy Gardner on 2
his tremendous service as chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher 3
Education; and 4
WHEREAS, Diligent and painstaking in all his endeavors, Randy 5
Gardner has achieved a noteworthy record of service to the residents 6
of Ohio, and he has distinguished himself as an outstanding 7
administrator, an inspirational leader, and a devoted advocate for 8
education. Displaying sound judgment, a stellar work ethic, and 9
valuable job skills, he has shown a sincere commitment to serving the 10
state in an efficient and professional manner; and 11
WHEREAS, A former high school history and government teacher and 12
member of the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives, Randy Gardner 13
has served as chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education 14
since 2019, and he has brought to this position a wealth of experience 15
gained during his forty-two years of public service. By approaching 16
difficult decisions and shouldering responsibilities with confidence, 17
he has earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom he has 18
worked, and he has set a fine example that is worthy of emulation; and 19
WHEREAS, To his credit, Randy Gardner has demonstrated how very 20
much a conscientious, industrious person can accomplish, and he can be 21
proud that his unflagging dedication to his office has inspired many 22
who know him to devote themselves similarly. In the wake of his 23
retirement, he can rest assured that his contributions will not be 24
forgotten and that he will be sorely missed; therefore be it 25

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of 26
the 135th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay 27
tribute to Chancellor Randy Gardner on the occasion of his retirement 28
and extend best wishes for health and happiness in the years to come; 29
and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit 31
a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Randy Gardner. 32
