A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Austintown Fitch High School softball team as
the 2023 Division I State Champion.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 135th General Assembly 1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Austintown Fitch High School 2
softball team on winning the 2023 Division I State Championship; and 3
WHEREAS, A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the 4
Austintown Fitch High School softball team have combined talent and 5
competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to 6
establish themselves as a truly exceptional squad. With admirable 7
dedication, players Madi Beaudis, McKenna Hogan, Laura Lanterman, 8
Ashlee McLean, Caitlin Mitchell, Samantha Heinz, Ayla Ray, Madison 9
Haynie, Tina Montgomery, Samantha Severn, Rachel Spalding, Sydnie 10
Watts, Julia Wileman, Jeweliana Farmer, Kylie Folkwein, Morgan Roby, 11
Lily Stevens, Miley Summerville, and Abby Toth have worked diligently 12
toward attaining ultimate proficiency in softball, and as a result, 13
the Falcons defeated a tough Anthony Wayne team by the score of 6-1 to 14
win this year’s Division I State crown; and 15
WHEREAS, The Falcons’ achievements and leadership are a 16
justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the 17
players, their families, their school, their community, and their 18
coach, Steven Ward. In leading their team to victory, Coach Ward and 19
his assistants have not only helped the athletes to develop their 20
talents to the fullest but also instilled in them a valuable sense of 21
determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; and 22
WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role 23
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased 24
to pay tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding 25
coaches for a job well done. The maturity and experience the team 26

members have gained through their participation in sports will greatly 27
aid them in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it 28
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 135th General 29
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Austintown 30
Fitch High School softball team on its tremendous 2023 season and 31
salute the players and coaches as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and 32
be it further 33
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 34
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Austintown Fitch High 35
School softball team. 36
