A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To urge the federal government to select Ohio for the 1
permanent headquarters of the United States Space 2
Command. 3
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF
OHIO (THE SENATE CONCURRING):
WHEREAS, The United States Space Command is temporarily 4
located in Colorado; and 5
WHEREAS, The United States Space Command is the unified 6
combatant command for all military space operations; and 7
WHEREAS, The federal government has not made a final 8
decision regarding the final permanent location for Space 9
Command headquarters; and 10
WHEREAS, Ohio's history of support for national defense, 11
along with its many space-related resources, would make a 12
fitting host for new Space Force missions or the permanent 13
headquarters of the United States Space Command; and 14
WHEREAS, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, 15
is one of the largest and most complex bases in the United 16
States Air Force, with a long history of flight tests spanning 17
from the Wright Brothers into the Space Age; and 18
WHEREAS, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is the 19

headquarters of the Air Force Materiel Command, a major Air 20
Force Medical Center, and the Air Force Institute of Technology; 21
and 22
WHEREAS, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is the home of the 23
88th Air Base Wing consisting of more than 5,000 officers, 24
enlisted Air Force, civilian and contractor employees, and the 25
655th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing; and 26
WHEREAS, Ohio's federal resources, including the National 27
Air and Space Intelligence Center and the Air Force Research 28
Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; the 178th 29
Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group at the 30
Springfield Air National Guard Base; and NASA Glenn Research 31
Center in Cleveland, are uniquely situated to assist United 32
States Space Command; now therefore be it 33
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 135th General 34
Assembly of the State of Ohio, urge the federal government to 35
select Ohio for the location of the United States Space 36
Command's permanent headquarters; and be it further 37
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 38
transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the 39
President of the United States, President Pro Tempore and 40
Secretary of the United States Senate, the Speaker and Clerk of 41
the United States House of Representatives, the United States 42
Secretary of Defense, the members of the Ohio Congressional 43
delegation, and the news media of Ohio. 44
