                       A RESOLUTION
            Honoring Abby Steiner as a National Track and Field
              Champion.
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly     1
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Abby Steiner on winning the 2022      2
National Collegiate Athletic Association Indoor and Outdoor               3
championships and USA Track and Field Outdoor Championship in the 200-    4
meter dash; and                                                           5
     WHEREAS, A student at the University of Kentucky, Abby Steiner has   6
combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good    7
sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly exceptional young           8
athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked diligently toward      9
attaining ultimate proficiency in track and field, and as a result,       10
she won the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Indoor Meet with a time of         11
22.16 seconds, at the NCAA Outdoor Meet with a collegiate record time     12
of 21.80 seconds, and at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Meet with a      13
time of 21.77 seconds, the fastest time in the world this year, to        14
qualify for the world championships; and                                  15
     WHEREAS, Abby Steiner’s accomplishments and leadership, both in      16
and out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine      17
reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her     18
coaches, her school, and her hometown. Her unwavering commitment to       19
excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of many, and she is      20
certainly worthy of high praise; and                                      21
     WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role    22
in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased      23
to pay tribute to Abby Steiner on an exemplary season. Indeed, the        24
same maturity and experience she has gained through her participation     25
in track and field will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of      26

the future; therefore be it                                                27
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 134th General     28
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Abby Steiner on     29
a fantastic season and extend best wishes for continued success; and       30
be it further                                                              31
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly                32
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Abby Steiner.                     33
