A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Butler County General Health District on its
One Hundredth Anniversary.
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 1
133rd General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special 2
recognition to the Butler County General Health District as it 3
celebrates its Centennial; and 4
WHEREAS, Responding to the tragic effects of a worldwide 5
influenza pandemic and smallpox, the Ohio General Assembly enacted 6
a law in 1919 to create public health departments across the 7
state, leading to the formation of the Butler County General 8
Health District in 1920. Since its inception, the department has 9
provided services to countless county residents, and its 10
initiatives to improve the area have been invaluable; and 11
WHEREAS, The Butler County General Health District has 12
achieved remarkable success in preventing the spread of diseases, 13
promoting wellness, protecting the environment, and achieving 14
health equity. Indeed, the agency has demonstrated a staunch 15
commitment to enhancing the health of the communities it serves, 16
and it is certain to continue advancing its standard of 17
excellence; and 18
WHEREAS, It is through the presence of institutions such as 19
the Butler County General Health District that Ohioans have gained 20
a reputation for readily addressing the issues important to our 21
state’s welfare. The dedicated individuals who have been involved 22
with this venture over the years are certainly deserving of high 23
praise, for they have contributed to making a fundamentally 24
positive, lasting impact on countless citizens; therefore be it 25

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of 26
Representatives of the 133rd General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting 27
this Resolution, commend the Butler County General Health District 28
on its One Hundredth Anniversary and salute it as one of Ohio’s 29
finest governmental organizations; and be it further 30
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 31
transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the 32
Butler County General Health District. 33
