A RESOLUTION
Honoring Senator Louis Terhar for outstanding service to
the Ohio Senate.
WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 133rd General 1
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to 2
Senator Louis Terhar for his loyal service to the Ohio Senate; and 3
WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished tenure with the Ohio 4
Senate, Lou Terhar has capably drawn from his unique past 5
experiences as a U.S. Naval Commander, Vietnam veteran, President 6
and Chief Executive Officer of Integris Metals, Indian Motorcycle 7
Company and The David J. Joseph Company, as well as his service as 8
a State Representative and significant involvement in his local 9
community to better serve his constituents. Representing the 8th 10
District, he has ably served as chairman of the Ways and Means 11
Committee and the Finance - Primary and Secondary Education 12
Subcommittee, vice chairman of the Education Committee, and a 13
member of the Finance and Insurance and Financial Institutions 14
committees, and he has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to 15
performing his duties with the utmost efficiency and competence. 16
With commendable determination and resolve, he has brought his 17
talents and experience to bear on the ever-changing needs and 18
issues of the Ohio General Assembly; and 19
WHEREAS, Lou Terhar has displayed a genuine commitment to 20
improving the quality of life in our society, and he appreciates 21

the important role that family plays in being a responsible public 22
servant. Indeed, he serves his district with the same support, 23
concern, and dedication that he has shown to his wife, Debe, their 24
four children and six grandchildren. His love for Ohio and his 25
sincere desire to serve its people are examples of how an 26
individual’s contributions help shape our state and nation; and 27
WHEREAS, Election to public office is one of the highest 28
honors that the people in a democracy can bestow upon a fellow 29
citizen. Throughout his service as a member of the Ohio Senate, 30
Lou Terhar has consistently maintained a high degree of 31
achievement and has displayed a level of integrity and commitment 32
that has earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues on 33
both sides of the political aisle. Whether engaged in floor debate 34
or in committee deliberations, he has brought a full measure of 35
enthusiasm, intelligence, and public spirit to his duties and has 36
effectively served his constituents and the Great State of Ohio; 37
therefore be it 38
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 133rd 39
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud 40
Senator Louis Terhar on his exemplary service to the Ohio Senate 41
and extend best wishes for happiness and fulfillment in the years 42
to come; and be it further 43
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 44
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Senator Louis Terhar. 45
