TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the New York city charter, in relation to construction
and mentoring programs
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
This bill amends section 1, subdivision b of section 1309 of the New
York city charter, as added by chapter 604 of the laws of 2023, to add
architectural and engineering services as eligible vendors to partic-
ipate in the Centralized Construction Mentoring Program.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
City construction projects often include architecture and engineering as
necessary components to project delivery. Recently, NYC has moved
towards alternative delivery methods like expanded Design-Build,
Progressive-Design Build, and CM-Build in order to integrate
construction expertise in the design process. These models provide mean-
ingful cost controls and reduce project duration. Bill will benefit MWBE
architectural and engineering services.
