TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing the county of Nassau assessor to
accept an application for a real property tax exemption from Ray of
Hope, Inc.
 
PURPOSE:
Authorizes the County of Nassau Assessor to accept from the Ray of Hope,
Inc. an application for exemption from real property taxes.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 of the bill authorizes the assessor of the county of nassau to
accept from Ray of Hope Inc., located at 760 St. Lukes Pl, Baldwin, NY
11510, an application for exemption from real property taxes pursuant to
section 420a of the real property tax law. Upon approval by the nassau
county legislature, the assessor may make appropriate correction to the
subject rolls.
Section 2 sets the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This legislation would provide Ray of Hope, Inc. with an exemption from
real property taxes pursuant to Section 420-a of the Real Property Tax
Law. Ray of Hope, Inc. is a not-for-profit place for worship in the
Hamlet of Baldwin. This legislation will provide for the Nassau County
Assessor's Office to correct this error and grant their exemption, and
therefore issue a refund for taxes paid.
