TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the Nassau county civil divisions act, in relation to
the Volunteer and Exempt Firefighter's Benevolent Association of Beth-
page, Nassau county, New York, Inc.
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
An act to amend the Nassau County civil divisions act, in relation to
the Volunteer and Exempt Firefighter's Benevolent Association of Beth-
page
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 amends sections 622.0, 622,4 and 622.5 of chapter 65 of the
laws of 1940 to update the name of the association and description of
persons eligible for membership; to modernize and expand the permissible
use of foreign fire insurance monies by the association; and to update
the correct references to New York State Insurance law.
Section 2 establishes the effective date,
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This act would help support the retention of volunteer firefighters in
the Bethpage community. Since the Volunteer and Exempt Firefighter's
Benevolent Association of Bethpage receives Foreign Fire Insurance
Premium Tax monies from the New York State Insurance Department and/or
the Department of Financial Services, the bill would allow them to use
the funds in furtherance of their statutory purposes.
