TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 492 of the laws of 1981, relating to incorporat-
ing the Sag Harbor Volunteer Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association,
Inc., and providing for its powers and duties, in relation to making
technical corrections therefor
 
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bill is to update the powers of the Sag Harbor
Volunteer Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1.
*Revises the name of the association and provides other gender-neutral
updates;
*Corrects outdated references to the Insurance Law; and
*Expands the permissible uses of the fire insurance premium tax monies
to be used in furtherance to all the association's purposes.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This act would update the charter of the Sag Harbor Volunteer Exempt
Fireman's Benevolent Association so that it may more effectively provide
for the wellbeing of the association, its members, and their families.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that the
amendments to section 7 of chapter 492 of the laws of 1981 made by
section one of this act shall apply to taxes due on premiums received on
or after January 1, 2027.
