TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general municipal law, in relation to permitting the
town of Southeast, Putnam county, to lease certain sports field fences
for advertisements
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Permits the town of Southeast, Putnam county, to lease certain sports
field fences for advertisements
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 of the bill adds a new. section 77-1 to the General Municipal
Law to allow the town of Southeast in Putnam County. to lease municipal
sports field fences of John E. Markel Memorial Paik, annually, at a
nominal rent to not-for-profit corporations or organizations for the
purposes of advertising. The revenue from said leases is to be used
solely for the care of John E. Markel Memorial Park.
Section 2 of the bill provides for the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The town of Southeast has requested the ability to lease space on the
fences of the sports fields at John E. Markel memorial Park for the
purposes of advertising in order to increase the revenue of the town's
parks and recreation department to improve and better maintain the John
E. Markel Memorial Park. Additionally, this may reduce the tax burden on
residents of the town.
