TITLE OF BILL:
An act in relation to authorizing Kurt Nolan to receive certain credit
under sections 384-d and 384-e of the retirement and social security law
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Authorizes Kurt Nolan to receive credit under sections 384-d and 384-e
of the retirement and social security law for his time as an office with
the State University of New York, the Saratoga County Sheriff and the
Village of Ballston Spa
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 provides that Kurt Nolan shall be granted service credit under
sections 384-d and 384-e of the retirement and social security law and
shall be entitled to the full rights and benefits associated with cover-
age under such sections. Section 2 requires the owed credits be paid by
the State of New York. Section 3 provides that the act takes effect
immediately.
JUSTIFICATION:
Mr. Nolan has served in a variety of different law enforcement roles at
different points in his career and despite his long time of service for
reasons not ascribable to his own negligence, was not granted service
credit under sections 384-d and 384-e of the retirement and social secu-
rity law for his periods of employment with the Saratoga County sher-
iff's office and the New 14 York state university police
