TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the veterans' services law, in relation to creating a
women veterans history trail in order to recognize and celebrate the
history of women in service
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To establish a Women Veterans' History Trail under the department of
veterans' services which shall include historic preservation of items at
the approval of the commissioner.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Outlines the establishment of a women veterans' history
trail.
Section 2: The effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
Women have been serving in the military since the formation of the
United States of America. Unfortunately, women veterans have not
received the recognition they deserve.
Establishing a Women Veterans' History Trail would highlight all the
great achievements that women veterans have had throughout history. It
is important that the State of New York continue to strive for equity
and fair recognition of women who have served in the US Armed Forces.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect ninety days after it has become law.
