TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the highway law, in relation to dedicating a portion of
the state highway system to the Dutchess County Revolutionary War Veter-
ans
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To honor and recognize the service and sacrifice of Revolutionary War
veterans from Dutchess County by dedicating a portion of State Route 82
in their name.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 of the bill amends the highway law by adding a new section
345-e to designate a portion of State Route 82, beginning at its inter-
section with Clove Branch Road in the Town of East Fishkill and continu-
ing to its intersection with Duncan Hill Road in the Town of Union Vale,
as the "Dutchess County Revolutionary War Veterans Highway."
Section 2 directs the Commissioner of Transportation to install and
maintain appropriate signage identifying this designation. The desig-
nation is ceremonial in nature and does not change the official name of
the highway.
Section 3 provides the effective date.

Dutchess County played a significant role during the American Revolu-
tionary War, serving as a strategic location for military operations and
supply routes. Many residents of the county answered the call to serve,
contributing to the founding of our nation and the preservation of
liberty.
This legislation provides a meaningful way to recognize the courage and
dedication of these individuals. By designating a portion of State Route
82 in their honor, the State of New York ensures that their legacy is
