JUSTIFICATION:
Pietro Viviano, born in 1884, was an Italian immigrant and Yonkers resi-
dent who died tragically on July 14, 1948, at the age of 63. He was
working as a blasting foreman on the new extension of the Saw Mill River
Parkway from Chappaqua to Mount Kisco when, according to newspaper
reports at the time, lightning struck and detonated the dynamite being
used to blast rock. This dedication honors Mr. Viviano's unseen but
important role in building the parkway we know today.
